This small, classic specimen displays beautiful examples of crystal structure! This is a vibrant purple fluorite specimen from Lead Hill area, in well known Cave-in-Rock, Illinois, part of the Kentucky-Illinois Fluorspar District. This is a distinctive, aesthetic example of deep purple fluorite with a light-green zone at the base. The fluorite is a super saturated deep purple shade, and has nice clarity on corners and luster. The terminations on the crystals are, for the most part, well-formed, yet have a matte texture and soft abrasions. The fluorite is a super deep tone, dark purple, which looks nearly black at times and is best seen backlit (as seen here), when it can look almost magenta.
This distinctive cluster wows with its classic composition, quality, and colors. This small cabinet specimen is truly striking, and would offer a lot of beauty to any specimen collection.
