This is a rare and gorgeous Kunzite crystal, which has formed in a flaring shape with raw edges. The striations and organic structure give it a sculptural look. Slightly clouded and frosted, yet also gemmy and lustrous, this is a substantial and well-formed specimen of this uncommon mineral. The crystal features a pale pink shade that is very soft and subtle, and darker when looking down its long axis. It fluoresces a pale orange under shortwave UV light (blacklight)! Truly a wonderful crystal to display, admire, and work with energetically—it’s small size yet substantial presence makes it ideal for jewelry projects as well.
Locality: Dara-i-Pech field, Kunar, Afghanistan.

Spodumene is a lithium aluminum silicate mineral. Pink or purple shades are Kunzite, while yellowish and greenish shades are known as Hiddenite. Spodumene varieties are valued as gemstones, and spodumene is also an important source of lithium. This mineral fluoresces a beautiful orange-pink shade under UV light.
