What a show-stopper! This is a flat cabochon-cut stone of Dendritic Limestone from Hienheim, Germany. This Jurassic Age pseudo-fossil looks organic, but gets its delicate patterns from either manganese or iron oxide minerals. The contrast of the stone is sandstone-like and lightly shaded, and the warm reddish-brown colors of the dendrite make a beautiful centerpiece. The stone has a granular texture, the natural stone preserved. The back of the stone is completely flat, and the top is flat as well—it is shaped, but has not been polished or coated. This is a very pleasing and affordable small sized specimen, and would make an excellent addition to any collection as a display piece, and would really shine in a jewelry project!
